PSHE Curriculum Overview{SECTION_MENU}
PSHE
For you created my inmost being. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalms 139: 13- 18.
We are individuals. We are global citizens who care about our community and the wider world. We are kind friends and we value our relationships. We respect our bodies and our minds. We take time to understand ourselves as unique human beings.
At St George’s, we are committed to ensuring that the children in our care receive the promise of Jesus, ‘Life in all its fullness.’ We embrace academic rigour and excellence alongside children’s spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, moral and social development. It is our responsibility to provide our children with a solid understanding of the diverse world around them and to support them in making responsible decisions in school and the wider community. By participating in our PSHE curriculum, children will acquire the skills necessary to prosper and flourish as they become self-confident and respectful citizens.
We teach children the skills of emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing physical and mental health. PSHE includes the teaching of relationships education (RSE), personal, social, emotional development and citizenship. Through RSE, we enable children to make responsible and informed decisions about their health and well-being. Pupils are predominately taught PSHE using ‘Jigsaw’ which is a spiral, progressive scheme of work. Where appropriate, we adapt the Jigsaw scheme to meet the needs of pupils and community.
