Through studying literature, pupils’ eyes are opened to the human experience; they are given the opportunity to explore meaning and ambiguity as well as the beauty and power of language. Literature presents a gateway for pupils to engage with and understand the ever-changing world around them.
KS1
-We are becoming confident and fluent readers who love to meet new characters and new places through the stories we share.
-We are proud writers who can creatively communicate with our reader.
KS2
-We are avid readers. We immerse ourselves in the worlds of real and imagined people. Now that we have learnt to read, we read to learn.
-We are writers. We have a story to tell and we are able to clearly communicate our ideas, thoughts and opinions with others.
